I'm sending an update on Rick's progress which I thought might interest you and the program. I believe I told you Rick lost 40lbs from the start of the diet January 17th to April 1st. He has since put back on about 5lbs but he still follows the program for the most part. He still does not eat rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, or sweets. We still try to stay to the five hours between meals although he does have a few nuts between sometimes or a piece of fruit.

A few days after starting the diet in January we noticed that his blood sugar was testing perfectly each morning and I suggested he stop the insulin shots until such time as his sugar tested over the limit which it never did again. He has not had an injection of insulin since about the 22nd of January, almost a year now.

We just received our latest blood results from the doctor here and that is what I wanted to share with you. Rick has made dramatic improvement in his blood sugar and insulin resistant levels since this time last year. His blood sugar level is now in the normal range and his insulin resistance went from 20.9 to 3.4.
If you wish to have a copy of these tests I could fax them to you with a fax number. I don't know if this would be helpful to the metabolic program.

The doctor here said he has many diabetic patients and has never seen such results and especially considering Rick went off the insulin injections. He was amazed!

Until my mid-forties I was always thin. Normal size, felt good about myself etc. Then the weight started to pile on. I have tried everything. Weight Watcher’s, NutriSystems, several fad diets, South Beach, Carbohydrate, Protein, Duke Diet and Fitness Center 3x……..Oy!!

The Metabolic Plan has worked for me and other friends too. The first 16 days are not pleasant but what’s 16 days in the scheme of the rest of your life? So, I muddled through those 16 days and since then it has honestly been a breeze for me.

I am into my 8th week and I’m just about 25 lbs down! Have not hit that magic number yet but it’s going to happen! I am not hungry. When and if I am, I drink water and that helps me get through that bit. I try to get as creative as I can with the foods I am allowed and I look forward to my meals because I enjoy them so much..... I’m serious!

When I go out for dinner, I take a small bag with the things that I need. If the restaurant has the protein I am permitted, I tell them how to cook it for me, along with a vegetable. I try to eyeball the amounts and that becomes easy once you’re into the diet. As a result, we go out as often as we did……8 weeks ago!

It works out perfectly. Needless to say, I am an happy with metabolic balance!

The metabolic balance program has been a success for me beyond anything I have experienced with other diets and way beyond anything I expected.

I’m almost 50 years old, and I have been a yo-yo dieter since I was a teenager. I have always been overweight, but during the last 6 or so years, especially after quitting smoking, my weight (at a height of 5’8” ) had gotten up to over 255 pounds. I started the metabolic balance program about a year ago, when my mother talked me into trying it after having successfully lossing weight with it herself.

At this time, I have lost over 107 pounds and am now not far from my target weight. The weight loss has made me feel better about myself, but in addition to that, I feel very much better in general. I now have lots of energy. While I used to spend weekends on the couch watching TV and taking many naps, I now go to the fitness center on a regular basis (and enjoy it), I have taken up jogging, and I am usually out of the house doing things and meeting friends a good part of each weekend. Unlike before, I rarely feel tired and unmotivated.

I have been participating in the online version of mb, since there is no center close to where I live, but this would have been my choice in any case. Whether my questions were directly related to the diet or to healthy nutrition in general, I have been very impressed with the help and support I have received from my coach.

I have had very few hunger cravings with this diet, and I rarely miss foods high in carbs or alcohol, even though I used to drink alcohol on a regular basis. I feel so much better that I would continue eating according to the rules of mb, even if I had not actually lost a lot of weight.

I think this method is great...nothing succeeds like success. It only takes some discipline to start. The motivation to continue comes with your success. I am particularly impressed by the way in which metabolic balance affected my health.

The first positive changes were noticeable only a few days after I had started the diet. I slept better, my energy and stamina improved significantly. I hadn’t imagined that this was going to happen so quickly! This has shown me what I always knew, but had never practised, namely: that I can improve many things in my health by simply changing my diet.

“In metabolic balance, I have found a way of reducing my weight without feeling hungry, without counting calories, without special “shakes” that promise to burn fat – you just eat natural foods in the correct portions that are selected according to your blood results.

You eat 3 meals every day, drink sufficient water, and you always get protein with your meals. It does require discipline when starting the program; however after a couple months, you fortunately have acquired a new healthier eating habit.

The online counselling service was a great solution for me because I tend to be bit lazy – you write a short e-mail to your coach regarding complaints, issues or asking questions and you quickly get the information and motivation you need. They also cheer you up and encourage you to go on. I’m now in phase 3 and have reached my goal! I am very satisfied.

metabolic balance is a very effective, and for me, the most sensible and natural method of losing weight. It is a great way of changing your diet and for maintaining your correct weight. It is important to really want to change yourself and not just try something different or new. I have tried many diets but in the long run they did not help me at all. In fact, they did the opposite and I always ended up being heavier than before!

My experience is this - metabolic balance is not a typical “diet”. You are changing your nutrition for the better. However, you can still “cheat” every now and then, within the scope of the rules and program. I actually eat more than I did before but my diet is much more balanced and healthier now (lettuce, vegetables, fruit, fish and meat).

The first couple of weeks can be difficult; however, once you have found the right balance with your 3 meals – five hours between them – and drinking pure water between the meals it becomes easy. As I said, if you have really decided to change your life, to see it through to completion, not to be weak and fall back into your old negative routine – this method is really great and gets results.

The metabolic diet program is simple and is very effective. No special ingredients or complicated and long preparation time is required to cook my meals. This program has really helped me. The phases are very simply, precisely and accurately described. The online counselling is also very good – my questions were answered very quickly via e-mail or by phone. It’s fantastic to see how the body adjusts to the program and how much better you can taste the flavours of your food. Most flavour enhancers, such as sugar and salt, I hardly use any more.
