Where and how do I find a metabolic balance® coach?

By selecting a metabolic balance® Coach trained and certified by the Institute for metabolic balance® under 'Coach Search'.

How is the metabolic balance® programme prescribed?

Once you have selected your metabolic balance® Coach, you will be supervised and supported through the 4 phases of the programme. On your 1st consultation your Coach will compile your health & medical history and arrange for your blood sample to be taken. Once the blood analysis is completed the results and health information are gathered and analysed at the institute where your individual nutrition plan will be generated.

How long does the programme last?

There are four phases:
Phase 1
-  A two day preparation and detoxification process.
Phase 2 -  A 14 day strict adjustment phase where you will be required to eat 3 meals daily
following 8 simple rules. You will be supported and closely monitored by your Coach.
Phase 3 - A more relaxed adjustment phase where you begin to incorporate additional
foods into your daily meal plan. You may also choose to join in on special occasions and
savour a glass of wine or two!! Your Coach continues to support and monitor your progress.
Phase 4 - A maintenance phase where you continue to apply the core principles and enjoy a lifesyle that embraces balance and well-being.

Can I also participate in the metabolic balance® programme without any Coaching?

No, you need to participate in this programme with the guidance and support of a certified metabolic balance® Coach. The Coach will fully engage and support you along the way, they have the specialised knowledge and experience to help you overcome any obstacles and will prove to be a vital element in your success.

I am on the move the whole day. Can I still participate?

Yes, your meal plan is so versatile that you can plan well ahead and organise every day individually. Your metabolic balance® Coach supports and guides you in ideas to create interesting and tasty dishes. For your information, the first English edition of "metabolic balance®", the dedicated companion guide to the programme has now been released and is available.

Why is it so important to observe the 5 hour fast between meals?

Your body needs adequate time and rest for the digestion of meals. Snacks, often disturb this metabolic process and bring about the all too familiar cravings and hunger attacks caused by blood-sugar imbalances. Also, snacking interferes with the fat-burning process, so it is vital to consistently observe the 5 hour pauses between meals during this time.

Do I have to continue eating as I did in the strict adjustment phase?

No, after your metabolism has adjusted to your new eating habits and you have reached your goals, you enter phase 4 where you may ease off slightly and maintain the success you have achieved. However, some basic rules still apply that have become familiar to you and like many participants before you, you will notice which foods are good for you and which foods are not. If at any point you find yourself relapsing you simply revert to the strict adjustment phase to get yourself back on track.

Do I have to eat all the foods listed in my nutrition plan?

Yes, your personal nutrition plan is not a product of chance, since it is the result of your specific blood analysis and lab data and thus, unique as your fingerprint. The selected foods support your metabolism to provide you with the components which you have been difficient and lacking in the past. You need only to embrace some new changes and experiences. In addition, the recipes will help you to get familiar with your new food plan.

Do I have to follow the specified amounts exactly?

Yes, in particular during phase 2 you must comply with the specified amounts exactly, as this information correlates with your targeted weight adjustment. Once you have reached your goal, you can discuss the possibility of easing up on the amounts with your metabolic balance® coach.

Is it possible to feel hungry in the strict phase and could the adjustment interfere with my energy levels?

Yes, however, if you dilligently comply with your plan, you eat less than before, much slower and with noticably more enjoyment and pleasure so at the end of each meal you feel satisfied. Because of the nutrient dense foods eaten three times a day your body receives the energy it needs! Skipping meals or choosing fat free and calorie counting does not exist with the metabolic balance programme! During the times between meals adequate amounts of water is drunk which is vital for your health and success. If you feel a bit tired during the first few days of the adjustment, allow yourself and your body time to rest and retire early to bed! A good and peaceful nights sleep is key to a healthy metabolism.

I am a strict vegetarian. Can I still participate in the metabolic balance® programme.

Depends, if you, for whatever reason, do not eat any animal protein, eggs or dairy and live solely on fruit, vegetables, grains and legumes, then, unfortunately, you cannot participate in the metabolic balance® programme. May I participate in the metabolic balance® programme if I want to increase my metabolism but not lose weight?

Yes, this will be taken into consideration during the formulation of the plan and quantities are adjusted accordingly. Your health, fitness and vitality will benefit significantly. Your desires and goals will be discussed with your metabolic balance® Coach, he/she will be happy to assist you.

Common diets have had always some success in the short run – but it never lasted. Why should it be different with metabolic balance®?

metabolic balance® is not a diet in the traditional sense but a nutritional programme. The plan considers only and solely your lab data, metabolism and individual nutritional status, your plan is YOUR plan. Your success is a dependent on your commitment to embrace a new and fresh approach to your day. Concurrently, you will learn which foods are beneficial for you and which foods are not during this process.

So what does this all mean?

Well, you have all the tools at hand to maintain your goal - your individual nutritional plan is your own very personal schedule for lasting success. Essentially, metabolic balance® becomes a lifestyle.

What does the participation in the metabolic balance® programme cost?

You can enquire about the costs for your participation with your metabolic balance® Coach. The costs may vary in each region and include additional services by the individual Coach.
